{Watch Party Wednesday#4-KD} Idol I: Episode 6

As the title of this post says, we're going to be talking about the sixth episode of the K-drama, Idol I.

I humbly present my thoughts for your enjoyment and consideration. Accordingly, please mind that there will be spoilers ahead!

Recollection
- Hye-joo still wants La-ik back, but La-ik sets it straight that they aren't ever going to be something again and that she needs to leave him alone
- Hye-joo and La-ik's breakup was BAD, real BAD
- La-ik and Se-na go to the interview/interrogation with Jae-hee
- Jae-hee claims that La-ik signed a secret solo deal with another agency and was going to leave the Gold Boys and being confronted about it is his motive to kill Woo-seong
- La-ik's mother received an advance payment by using his name and faking the solo agreement so she could further her gambling addiction (you absolute failure of a woman)
- Se-na shows La-ik a support ad that some of the fans paid for and it makes him cry (oh my poor lad...)
- Young-bin has had enough of being hurt and dealing with Jae-hee's hate for La-ik, so he's chosen to leave and find greener pastures elsewhere
- Jae-hee is left with the consequences of his interrogation with La-ik and is now on thin ice with the company
- Jae-hee also gets half-told that La-ik was not trying to leave the Gold Boys secretly
- Mr. Prosecutor's father is once again trying to get his son to go corrupt just for the sake of closing a case (I hate his father)
- Hye-joo meets with Se-na and tries to get her to bring on attorneys from her family's firm, but Se-na politely refuses
- CEO Guy says he'll help La-ik as much as he can as far as providing the contract draft saying La-ik wanted the Gold Boys to continue alongside testyifying in court (for that, he gets a nicer nickname for now)
- Se-na's boss says he won't push her to drop the La-ik case anymore because he's moved be her conviction and nostalgic for when he was her dad's defense attorney
- Se-na lies so incredibly much when La-ik is asking about her hobbies and interests
- La-ik takes Se-na to a secret underpass piano and "teaches" her about why people like music (oh I'm so scared for when he finds out...)
- Apparently Woo-seong was involved in the sketchy contact thing???
Hye-joo of the past, I get it. You're upset and you're hurt and there's a lot of emotions flying, but what you said was so vitriolic holy shit. He's no Miss Sunshine with clean hands either, but damn. You two should never be together again. Honestly. No matter how good it was at moments. It's been poisoned into regret and obsession that both of you need to walk away from. Seriously, girlie. You need to move on.
I hate his mother. La-ik's mother. The birther of La-ik. She sucks. That's understatement. She is absolutely vile. How actually dare she. I know she doesn't, but does she have ANY clue the sheer amount of BULLSHIT she has caused for him??? I just...the magnitude of consequence her decision had. And for what? So she can go lose more money at the slots??? Despicable. Absolutely morally reprehensible. Her own fucking son.
Also screw Mr. Prosecutor's father! The whole balance of Prosecutors and Defense attorneys is that they achieve the same goal through different methods (in an ideal world, I know). The Defense tells you why it couldn't be their client to make sure that the Police/Prosecution's side actually did their due diligence, have true evidence, and there aren't any holes in the accusation. The Prosecution tells you why it could be that person to make sure that the Defense's side doesn't try and lie or cover-up for crimes that were committed because the facts of the case should speak for themselves. This makes sure that the person being charged with whatever is truly, to the most reasonable of conclusions, the perpetrator of whatever wrongdoing is being discussed. That is to say, Sir, THE WHOLE POINT OF THE PROSECUTION IS TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE CHARGING THE PERSON THEIR EVIDENCE POINTS TO! "So, what, you'd change sides again when there's a lack of evidence?" FUCKING YEAH??? ITS ALMOST LIKE A LACK OF EVIDENCE IS KINDA A KEY FACTOR IN SOMEONE, oh I don't know, NOT BEING GUILTY OF THE CRIME??? It's almost like it's called a JUSTICE SYSTEM for a reason! Honestly, fuck you. I'm so pissed off by you're everything about you. God this actor does such a good job at being awful.
On the more sweet side of things, the scene of La-ik and Se-na under the piano is such a wholesome exhcnage between two people. You can actually see the passion La-ik has for music still inside him and even Se-na cracks a smile and looks brighter. Then he plays the first song she ever heard from him and it just...agh, my heart, my feels. The way she starts tearing up and you could say it's from nostalgia but it's also from her anxiety towards telling him that he's her bias. The lighting and staging of the underpass was so wonderfully bright yet cozy too.
La-ik's suspicious as hell grocery shopping was hilarious but the phone call with his housekeeper was so sweet. Personally, I like bulgogi the most out of Korean food, but I respect gimbap too. The fact that Mr. Informant is called "Jerk King" in his phone, my word those two. Her childhood photos and all were so bitter sweet too, knowing everything that happened...
BUT HE JUST HAD TO FIND HER HIDDEN STASH IN THE ATTIC, GODDAMNIT. WHY COULDN'T YOU HAVE JUST TAKEN THE RICE AND GONE, MAN??? SE-NA, COULDN'T YOU HAVE TAPED THE BOX SHUT??? La-ik, points for dramatic effect in spreading it all out on the floor and then hiding in the corner.
Please, please, please let this not be as nuclear of an issue I fear that it will be. I am gripping onto the hope that this series will have a happy ending so hard right now.
