Midnight on Memory Lane

{Re: Debut Post!} Hello, Internet 2: Electric Boogaloo!

Hello, Internet, and good mornight to you all!

My name is Taffryne, shoppekeeper of Midnight on Memory Lane. I'm here with the much anticipated follow-up to my first debut post.

'Tis a pleasure to be back on this fine National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day!

Now, for this sequel post, I wanted to go ahead and tell you the schedule I have planned starting from tomorrow's post and into what I hope is a meaningful, long future together. As I mentioned prior, I'm dreaming to create a space here where we gather around, share our favourite things, and really bond as a community. I can only see so many clients within my shop, so here's to this little slice of the internet I've carved for us, eh?

Before I get into the nitty gritty details of everything, here's the overview of the posting schedule I've designed for us:

Sunday = Sunday Midnight Book Club

Monday = Manga/Manwha Monday

Tuesday = Taffy Tuesday

Wednesday = Watch Party Wednesday

Thursday = Tokusatsu Thursday

Friday & Saturday = {shoppe is closed}

Allow me to elaborate a bit more on these...

Sunday Midnight Book Club is quite literally that book club I had mentioned prior. I love reading of all kinds from non-fiction to fan-fiction, so each month I'll pick a new book to read either based on a theme for that month or just something that piqued my interest from the store shelves. You're welcome to read along or experience it vicariously; whichever works!

Manga/Manwha Monday is basically the same as book club, BUT, this time we'll be going through a different manga or manwha together! For those who aren't familiar, manga(マンガ)is from Japan while manwha (만화) is from Korea! For those super in the know, manhua (漫畫) is from China. Currently, I only read manga and manwha (I'm working towards my N2 on the JLPT and just picked up Korean this year), but maybe someday I'll check out some manhua too! Since manga/manwha span multiple volumes, the schedule will be a bit more sporadic where sometimes we only read up to a certain volume of a series within a single month (let's say up to volume 4 or so) while other times we might read every volume over a few months (for now, 12 volumes or less).

Taffy Tuesday is my wildcard day where I could tell you more about myself, my shoppe, or perhaps I'll simply ramble about whatever's caught my attention! Since it's Taffy Tuesday (get it, Taffryne ---> Taffy, hehe), each week will be a surprise to look forward to!

Watch Party Wednesday is one of the two multi-feature days I've curated for us. You see, I have quite the honest addiction to dramas. Specifically, K-dramas, J-dramas, and especially Thai-dramas (any fellow GMMTheeV fans?). Furthermore, I have a keen adoration for BL and GL shows. All of the everything about them really fuels something in my soul, you know? Ergo, on Watch Party Wednesdays, I'll have 3 blog posts for your tasteful enjoyment! Ideally, each month we'll watch one BL show, one GL show, and one other show. I might pick them by theme or it might be a roll of the dice. To the non-romance-enjoyers, don't fret! I'll make sure the show rotation isn't always just a trifecta of people falling in love. (this also totally isn't a secret scheme to get more devoted fans for my favourite pairings' mascots, absolutely not)

Tokusatsu Thursday is the second multi-feature day wherein we'll start with only a double feature turning into a triple feature and finally into a quadruple feature. To explain, tokusatsu (特撮・とくさつ)is the Japanese word for "special effects" and specifically marks the sub-genre of shows that make heavy use of practical and special effects. Thusly, I want to use these Thursday posts to show off two of my most treasured franchises by our overlords over at Toei: Kamen Rider and Pretty Cure. Ever since I binged the entirety of my beloved Kamen Rider W in a few days and saw a single episode of Healin' Good: PreCure, I have fallen and choose never to get up. Each Thursday, we'll talk through an old Kamen Rider and Pretty Cure alongside their currently airing counterparts!

Regarding what's on the docket for August...

Sunday Midnight Book Club: The Complete Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Manga Monday: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess by Akira Himekawa

Taffy Tuesday: {stay tuned~}

Watch Party Wednesday: Whale Store XOXO (GL Thai-drama), I Cannot Reach You (BL J-drama), Idol I (OL K-drama)

Tokusatsu Thursday: Kamen Rider Kuuga, (Futari wa) Pretty Cure

I do so wish that those summaries and selections have given you enough of a curiosity to tune back in. I just know that this can be the start of the most wonderous sentiments for us to share. This was a lot of information to smack you with, so thank you for bearing with me! There'll be more details to follow as we get into the swing of things come tomorrow's first official post of Watch Party Wednesday! I'll be covering episodes 1 and 2 of Whale Store XOXO, I Cannot Reach You, and episodes 1 through 3 of Idol I (...I'll get schedules posted ahead of time soon, I promise).

Therefore, I shall leave you to your devices for now! Remember to celebrate the day with a chocolate chip cookie or whatever treat fits your preference. A symbolic raised glass to the updated home page as well (admittedly, still working on it...).

May we meet again when the clock strikes 12:00!
